Who is Touker Suleyman? What is his background?

Toucker Suleyman was born on August 4, 1953, in Famagusta.

He was born into a Turkish-Cypriot family who moved to England in 1958 and attended school in Peckham, south London.

He had a hard time growing up as he arrived in the country not being able to speak English.

Then when he was just 10, he suffered a serious hand infection that resulted in him missing a year of school and left him at risk of an amputation of his left hand.

Suleyman has inherited his entrepreneurial skills from his father after working in his restaurant in Camberwell.

He has credited his father for being his inspiration to start his own business.

He is best known for being a multi-millionaire entrepreneur specialising in fashion.

In 2001 his company Low Profile Group bought famed shirt maker Hawes & Curtis for just £1.

By 2014, the chain operated 30 branches in the UK and one in Germany.

In 2008, he bought fashion brand Ghost, which saved 142 jobs across the company, and he has invested in start-up companies including Bikesoup.

In 2015, Touker was asked to join the investors' panel on Dragons' Den and he has been a fixture on the show ever since.

He has two children but is not married.

What is Touker Suleyman's net worth?

In 2015 The Sunday Times Rich List estimated that Touker has a fortune in excess of £200million.

He has used part of his wealth to build what has been described as a "James Bond-style" house in south London, reportedly worth £20million.

The house is said to be so impressive he has rented it out to A-list celebs - including David and Victoria Beckham.

What is Dragons' Den?

Budding entrepreneurs get three minutes to pitch their business ideas to five multi millionaires who are willing to invest their own cash to kick-start the businesses.

After each pitch, the Dragons have the opportunity to ask questions about the venture.

The entrepreneurs don't always have to answer, but of course, what they choose not to address could very well affect the outcome.

A Dragon who, having heard the pitch, does not wish to invest, must declare themselves "out", implying that they leave the discussion.

When is Dragons' Den on TV?

Dragons' Den will be back on our screen on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

The 21st series of the show will air each Thursday at 8pm on BBC One.

A surprise guest is set to join the Dragons' Den panel in the form of former footballer Gary Neville.

Gary is a footballer turned business mogul and has said himself that he is excited for the new challenge.

He said: "I am excited to join the Dragons, and to meet the entrepreneurs brave enough to face us in the Den.

"I hope my personal journey shows that you can take the experiences you’ve had in one part of your career and use them to do something entirely different and make it a success.

"Business is all about managing people and managing yourself and I’m looking forward to sharing my experience to help the entrepreneurs we’ll meet in the Den reach their potential."
