How do I apply for MasterChef UK?

Every year fans of the BBC One show wonder how they can try their luck in the famous kitchen.

Applications for MasterChef 2025 are now OPEN.

All you need to do is to be in with a chance.

The BBC advises that you ensure to take your time when completing it — and DO NOT submit multiple applications.

The series typically films annually at the end of the year, and is subsequently broadcast around the following March/April.

What are the requirements to apply on MasterChef?

There are a whole host of requirements if you want to take part in MasterChef and its filming commitments.

Applicants must fulfil all of the following:

  • Contestants must be 18 years or over
  • Must be an amateur cook and not a professional in any way
  • Only residents of the UK (inc Northern Ireland & Channel Islands) can apply
  • The applicants' main source of income must not come from preparing and/or cooking food in a professional environment (restaurant, hotels, canteens, etc)
  • Never working full time as a chef in a restaurant or running a food or catering business
  • Cannot work for Shine TV or the BBC — or have any family members work for them
  • Contestants must not have appeared in any previous series of MasterChef

If you meet all of the requirements listed above, you can proceed to the next stage of the application process.

When is the application deadline for MasterChef?

The BBC hasn't given a deadline at this time.

However, you must be at least 18 years old by September 1, 2024.

The sooner you get applying, the lesser the chance of missing any future deadlines.

What's the application process for MasterChef?

The form includes four sections, including asking prospective cooks about who their biggest influences are.

It also asks for details on tricky situations the amateur chefs might have encountered in the kitchen.

Cooks must provide a photograph and are also given the opportunity to submit a video supporting their application if they wish to do so.

Contestants will be whittled down after this initial application process.

The terms and conditions state that producers will then invite individuals in for an interview.

If you think you've got what it takes to be on the show, remember to take your time during the application process, and DO NOT submit more than one application.
