Bake Off hosts reunite for brand new project – just days after one star’s panel show was brutally axed by bosses

TWO Bake Off hosts have reunited for a brand new project just days after one of their shows was brutally axed by bosses.
Mel & Sue Should Know By Now launches today and sees Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins recalling their worst gigs, exploring the science of comedy, kinks as well as teasing their next scripted project.
The pair became renowned for their double act hosting The Great British Bake Off together on BBC On.
And now they are coming together after four years to attempt to improve their general knowledge on their new podcast.
They are also working on a secret scripted project, which will be their first substantial work together since their Sky One sitcom Hitmen ended in 2021 after two series.
It comes after it was announced last week that Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable would not be returning on U&Dave.
Mel’s show featured comedians and celebrities competing to be judged the most sinful, unforgivable person in the room, with Mel as the host and Lou Sanders as her assistant.
Back in January, Mel Giedroyc told Radio 4's Woman's Hour that she and Sue had recently gone to New York for a workshop and "had a lovely time.”
She said: “Just the two of us and some very lovely writers. It's super, super, super-early days but there may be something that comes out of that.
"Probably not this year ... I'm going to say '26. Possibly, who knows? And we're doing, I hope, I never want to jinx these things, I'm touching all the wood in your studio that I can find, we may be doing something together at the end of [this] year as well."
In the six episodes of the new podcast, Mel and Sue explore "the science of bread-making (seriously, what is yeast?) to the mysteries of kink (should we even ask?) and the unspoken rules of packing holiday underwear (is there a golden ratio?)."
They also share revelations about their lives, backstage gossip as well as recalling dozens of anecdotes from their years of friendship.
Mel said: "Thirty-seven years of friendship and the old girl can still make me literally wheeze my lungs up with laughter. I have not had so much fun in ages!"
Sue added: "I was crying with hysteria and eating crisps throughout. To be honest, I'm still not over the guinea pig story ..."
Mel and Sue met at a comedy gig in 1988 while studying at the University of Cambridge.
They then got their television breakthrough on the French & Saunders sketch show, before becoming increasingly popular in 1997 with their Channel 4 lunchtime chat show Light Lunch, which then moved to Late Lunch.
However, they are most known for their Bake Off stint, which they presented together for six years from 2010 to 2016.
Mel & Sue Should Know By Now podcast will be available from Audible from today.
