THIS Morning bosses have "desperately" edited Phillip Schofield out of a tribute to F1 racing driver Lando Norris.

Phillip, 62, featured in the original clip of Lando three years ago but was removed for a new tribute to the 25-year-old sports star.

Instead, only his co-star Holly Willoughby's voice was used before it jumped straight to footage of Lando alone as he answered a question Phil had asked.

Phillip, who was sacked from This Morning in 2023, was non existent in the tribute, despite the fact he was sat next to Holly and Lando at the time of the original interview.

The new montage went on to show a host of other This Morning presenters interviewing Lando over the years, including Alison Hammond, Josie Gibson and Dermot O'Leary.

As a result, Phillip's absence did not go unnoticed with eagle-eyed viewers.

After spotting the sneaky move by producers, one fan wrote on X: "I love a montage where they are desperately trying not to include Schofield."

Another added: "Wow that editing was STRICT!"

The tribute to Lando and his impressive career was shown on Wednesday's episode of This Morning (February 12, 2025).

It came moments before the Formula 1 champ was interviewed by hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard via video link from McLaren's headquarters in Woking.

Wednesday's segment began with Cat saying: "On the surface, Formula 1 might be all about the cars.

"But it's the drivers who provide the heart and soul behind the wheel and there is one driver in particular This Morning has kept a close eye on."

The screen then flashed to footage of Lando trackside as he celebrated his F1 Grand Prix win, with Holly's voice saying: "You've had so much success so young and I think a lot of people would be thinking, 'God, what is his secret to that?'"

Lando was then shown sat in the This Morning studio in 2022, saying: "One of the biggest things is consistency."

In the original interview, however, Lando had actually spoken about "consistency" after Phillip had asked: "Out of this 19, you've finished sixth.

"Not good enough, I appreciate that for you. But not a bad season for most. And there will have been many veteran drivers who would have liked to have been in that position.

"But however, with those weaknesses, where do you think they were? What can you improve? Not necessarily but with the car?"

Lando had told Phil: "One of those things is consistency and delivering every weekend."

FAMILIAR FACES

The tribute continued with a slew of clips of Lando on This Morning over the years.

Alison Hammond was shown at Silverstone racetrack calling Lando "This Morning's adopted son".

She was also seen alongside Dermot O'Leary interviewing the F1 driver on another occasion, while one clip showed Lando speaking to Dermot and Josie Gibson.

Alison and Dermot were then shown again, with Dermot saying: "On Sunday, Lando Norris finally became Formula 1 Grand Prix winner."

Phillip was dropped from This Morning 15 months after his and Holly's 2022 interview with Lando.

His sacking followed a brief affair with a younger member of staff which he owned up to, prompting an external review of the culture at the programme, which eventually cleared ITV of any wrongdoing.

The backlash saw Phil lose all his TV work, including Dancing On Ice, and he fell out with one-time best friend, Holly, who did not stand by him once the scandal broke.

Holly later quit the show, leaving the daytime show facing its biggest crisis in 35 years.

Ben and Cat made their This Morning debut in March 2024 in a bid to rescue the show and claw back dwindling viewing figures.
