The clothing brand owner and former plumber jumped out and tried to extinguish the flames himself, but said the luxury vehicle "exploded in his face".

Danny - who was shaken but miraculously escaped without injury - told his social media followers that he had no choice but to step back and watch his "dream car burn to the ground".

Ex-islander Danny, who is from Wigan, shocked fans as he recorded flames ripping through his four-week-old McLaren on the roadside.

He captioned the footage: "How's your Monday?"

Standing in front of the inferno, Danny posted on Instagram: "Don't tell me you're having a bad day. Wow."

The video then switches to a clip of firemen extinguishing what is left of the burned out car.

Danny later relived the frightening incident after receiving "500 messages" from worried fans.

He said: "I was just driving at about 30mph, just outside Red Lion, and the next minute the car changed gear and the back end was on fire.

Danny added: "It's pretty sad. Obviously, it's a setback.

"I'm trying to switch it into a positive. I'm trying to see the positive in it but I'm not quite sure what that is yet.

"But it's happened for a reason but I don't know why as yet."

Danny found fame on the 2021 series of Love Island and has since made a hefty living from running his own men's fragrance company and clothing line.

Just four weeks ago, he collected his McLaren 720S after previously writing it down on a list of "goals".

Danny Bibby's controversial Love Island stint

Danny Bibby appeared in the Love Island villa four years ago.

His short stint on the show was controversial, however, after it emerged he had previously used the n-word in a social media post.

He also came under fire for some of his body art.

Danny's tattoo artist was forced to hit back after the singleton was wrongly accused of having a 'German soldier' on his stomach.

It actually turned out to be a sketch of the fictional character Tommy Shelby from the hit show Peaky Blinders.

Danny also had the numbers '13' and '28' on his wrists, which some people incorrectly compared to the numbers inked onto victims of the Holocaust.

A staggering 1,500 complaints were made to Ofcom when Danny entered the villa and he was quick to apologise for his use of the n-word.

He entered the ITV2 show as a bombshell on Day 18 but was dumped five days later.

Danny said sorry twice for using the highly offensive word, once while in the villa and then again after he was dumped.

Danny later blasted Love Island's "editing" after his time on the show.

Alongside pictures of him posing with his new car, Danny had told his 139,000 Instagram followers last month: "Write it down, make it happen."

Following the dramatic fire, many of those followers have rallied round and found a "positive" in the incident.

One told Danny: "You should thank your lucky stars because you could of come out of that in a box."

Another added: "Scary that. Least you're safe and not injured x."

And a third said: "At least you are okay, u know it was your dream car, a car can be replaced, but you can't be replaced."
