A LOOSE Women star has revealed her dramatic hospital dash, as she was rushed to A&E after her flight home from the Caribbean.
Denise Welch returned to her spot on Loose Women on Tuesday, after she’d taken time away from the show after her depression returned.
Recently, Denise was due to appear in Peter Pan at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal, and had organised her annual charity ball in aid of GEM appeal.
However she cancelled her scheduled appearance in both at the beginning of December.
Now, returning to the panel after the return of what Denise has called her ‘unwelcome visitor,’ she discussed her depression, but also a recent hospital dash.
She told her co-stars: “I got back from a lovely holiday from the Caribbean last Saturday, all bronzed and ready to come on here to show off my sun tan and say ‘I’m back.’
“But then I got rushed into hospital on the Saturday, with acute peritonitis.”
Denise continued to tell the panel, which was headed up by Ruth Langsford, that she had perforated diverticulitis.
She went on: “So I’ve been in hospital on a drip for a week. They didn’t have to do surgery and got it with antibiotics.”
Denise then joked about the illness she’d had, adding: “I am a Loose Woman, believe me.”
The NHS says that acute peritonitis is “an infection of the inner lining of the tummy which, left untreated, can become life threatening.”
While away on her holiday, Denise shared a beautiful swimwear snap in her brightly coloured swimsuit.
She wrote to her legion of fans at the time: “Actually upright for the first time today!! Does anyone else have a 'do absolutely nothing' holiday!! I'm constantly feeling tourist shamed when I overhear daily conversations of other peoples planned day trips!!!
“Hikes, excursions, stingray swimming, boat cruises, old ruins visits but and I both have zero desire to do anything but eat, sunbathe, scroll, read novels , nap, eat, sleep repeat.
“We are horizontal for pretty much 2 weeks!!! Anyone else relate?? Should I feel guilty?? Curious.”

Fans praised her for her stunning look as she showed off her slim physique in the costume and sandals.
Before her time away, Denise admitted that she had been struggling with her mental health for the first time in years.
Speaking on Loose Women, Denise said: “I’d just done a podcast saying I’d been free for five years from clinical depression and that I hoped that something that happened when I had a baby had reversed.
“But sadly the unwelcome visitor paid me an unwelcome visit and so I’ve not been well for a couple of weeks.”
Denise, who has battled with depression for over 30 years, continued: “The reason why I’m glad we’ve alluded to it is because we do all of things like Britain Get Talking and sometimes people still find that it isn’t always good to talk.
“So I just wanted to come on here because what I need when I’m poorly is for my friends to just know that I need time to get well.
“I need for the people that I work with like yourselves and like our wonderful production team to say ‘if you want to come to work come to work.”
“And if I don’t, like last week I didn’t come to work, because I know my illness more than anyone.”
