The business owner, who used to be a long-haul air stewardess with British Airways, applied after hearing that Channel 4 bosses were looking to do a Glasgow-based episode.

Her friend sent her a link to the application and although she thought it was originally for couples, she decided to give it a go.

In an exclusive interview with Bernadette explains: "The filming days are really long.

"When you are not hosting you are driven individually in taxis to a hotel at different times in the morning so you don't bump into each other.

"And they film your reactions to the menu that day - for example they might ask you what kind of person do you think made this menu?"

Bernadette explained that happened every day and that afterwards they'd go home until they left a few hours later for someone's home.

She laughed: "The great thing was the taxi driver wouldn’t tell you
where you were going. It was all really professional."

And although she loved her experience, she did admit the filming days were very long.

"On my day to host the camera crew arrived at 8am to film me doing all the preparation then they left and we had a break.

"Then they come back to film me preparing the starter and for the
guests arriving at 4pm.

"I didn’t serve my meal until about 11pm and it was 3am in the morning when I actually read the results of the competition out to
everyone.

"So yeah it’s a long long day" she explained.

But Bernadette said that the contestants are not out of pocket for anything and don't have to buy their meals with their own money,

"We have to hand our menus in as part of the process and you are given £150 each to buy your meal, and the taxis are all paid for too, so you’re not out of pocket for anything" she explains.

Last week, how a huge row left her co-star sobbing and that the show's bosses were forced to step in to help.

It had been catering manager Garry's turn to serve up a delicious looking dish for his guests and during a conversation about meat tempers flared.

Referring to an earlier incident, Project Manager Lauren looked at Bernadette and said: “You called me a liar… You are calling yourself a qualified fishmonger but you don't know if you can get sea bass steaks!"

“Says who?” demanded Bernadette, as the other diners looked nervously on.

“Says any other fishmonger,” Lauren snapped, stating that Bernadette should go back to fish school.

Bernadette denied calling Lauren a liar and replied: “I was telling you from a professional point of view, it's you who is calling yourself a liar.”

Civil servant Lydia tried to stop the argument, asking the others to remember that it was Garry's night,

“Let's roll it in, pull it back, enough is enough, it's Garry's night.” she begged.

Speaking of what happened, Bernadette said: "The worse part of the filming was Gary’s night because of the constant arguing.

"I was trying to be restrained with Lauren and keep my thoughts to myself. I felt she’d put a real dampener on it because Gary is dead nice so that was disappointing.

Bernadette confessed: "There were hundreds of bits cut out of the show, like last night during the argument there was one bit where Lydia was crying,

"And the producers weren’t happy that she’d been upset so much but you can only see her dabbing at her eyes on the episode though because the rest was cut out."
