TONIGHT'S Who Wants to be a Millionaire saw a Coronation Street legend tackle a VERY tricky question - would you have got it?

Soap viewers know Julie Hesdmonhalgh played Hayley Cropper from 1998 to 2014.

Julie joined host Jeremy Clarkson in a bid to raise cash for charity Reuben's Retreat.

However, the £32,000 question seemed, at first glance, to be quite the head scratcher.

It read: "What is the name of the Welsh visitor attraction designed by Clough Williams-Ellis in the style of an Italian village?"

The respective options were Port Isaac, Portmeirion, Port William and Port Rush.

As she deliberated, Julie told Jeremy: "Years ago, we were going on a trip to the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

"And we got there very early in the morning... and my husband, we were laughing at his passport photo.

"How bad his hair was on it, not realising it was 11 years ago that it had been taken."

Julie noted her husband's passport had been out of date, meaning the trip had to be cancelled.

As her husband had been "heartbroken", the couple instead went to the "nearest thing" to Italy in the UK.

She explained: "It was Portmeirion", sounding confident in the answer.

Her confidence was well-placed, having chosen the correct answer.

Jeremy informed Julie afterwards: "You've just made it to your safety net!"

Who has won the jackpot on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire has offered hundreds of hopeful contestants the chance to become millionaires, but there has only been a handful of lucky winners.

There have only been five real winners so far on the show as Charles Ingram, who was the third winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? in 2001, had his claim to the prize thrown out because of cheating allegations.

The official winners are...

Judith Keppel

  • In 2000, garden designer Judith Keppel made quiz show history as she became the first ever winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Judith is also the only woman ever to have won the million-pound prize.

David Edwards

  • Former physics teacher David became the second contestant to win the top prize in April 2001. Following his success, Edwards went on to compete in both series of Are You an Egghead? in 2008 and 2009.

Robert Brydges

  • Oxford-educated banker Robert became the third Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? champion when he won the quiz show several moths after David in 2001. Robert has stayed out of the limelight since his win.

Pat Gibson

  • World champion Irish quiz player Pat won the show in 2004. Amazingly Pat had TWO of his lifelines still available for his final question, something no other winner has managed.

Ingram Wilcox

  • Ingram came close to losing on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2006 as he had used all his lifelines up at the £32,000 mark, but in a shocking twist he went on to scoop the jackpot.

Julie ultimately went on to win an impressive £64,000 for her chosen charity.

A viewer wrote on X: "Julie Hesmondhalgh. What an absolute delight. Congratulations on the win for such a wonderful charity."

Another penned: "Amazing Julie. Thank you so much for raising the profile as well as the money for @ReubensRetreat."

Who Wants to be a Millionaire continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
