A COME Dine With Me contestant has revealed how a huge row left her co-star sobbing and that the show's bosses were forced to step in to help.
Bernadette MacKenzie, who runs appeared on the cooking show this week.
When project manager Lauren served up sea bass steaks earlier in the week, fishmonger Bernadette informed her that sea bass steaks didn't exist.
Lauren explained: “I’ve had a sea bass steak before and it’s a really chunky, meaty bit of fish and it’s just a bit different.”
Bernadette asked her where she’d had it before and when Lauren said it was in a restaurant, she replied: "I’m sure it wasn’t sea bass that you ate."
Bernadette added: "There is never in this Earth a sea bass steak, I can assure you the only way you can buy sea bass is by the fillet."
Although tensions were high, things seemed to settle between the pair later.
But in last night's episode, as 'SeaBassGate' reared it's head again - the episode descended into a huge blazing row.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun Bernadette explained: "The filming crew like the runners, the sound guys, the electrics, they were all amazing,
"And they were the ones that kind of tobered things down when it got heated."
Bernadette laughs before explaining: “I can’t believe everyone is talking about it. But it's good advertising for my wee fish van I guess.
"Everybody comes into the van now and asks can I get a seabass steak. I suppose it’s debatable if there really is such a thing, it’s not common anyways.
"It’s like any kind of fish , I guess, if you cut it through the middle it's like a tuna steak but that’s a different thing."
Last night, catering manager Garry served up a a delicious looking dish for his guests and the conversation switched to eating meat.
Bernadette said she only ate fish and chicken but wouldn’t eat other animals, and Lauren turned to her and said she'd spoken to other fishmongers who had confirmed sea bass steaks were available.
Lauren continued: “You called me a liar… You are calling yourself a qualified fishmonger but you don't know if you can get sea bass steaks!"
“Says who?” demanded Bernadette, as the other diners looked nervously on.
“Says any other fishmonger,” Lauren snapped, stating that Bernadette should go back to fish school.
Bernadette denied calling Lauren a liar and replied: “I was telling you from a professional point of view, it's you who is calling yourself a liar.”
Civil servant Lydia tried to stop the argument, asking the others to remember that it was Garry's night,
“Let's roll it in, pull it back, enough is enough, it's Garry's night.” she begged.
Speaking of what happened, Bernadette said: "The worse part of the filming was Gary’s night because of the constant arguing.
"I was trying to be restrained with Lauren and keep my thoughts to myself. I felt she’d put a real dampener on it because Gary is dead nice so that was disappointing.
"And she tried to take over my hosting night too, that airs tonight but the producers asked her to reel it in a bit - or words to that affect.
"They told her. ‘remember its Bernadette's night not yours’.
Bernadette confessed: "There were hundreds of bits cut out of the show, like last night during the argument there was one bit where Lydia was crying,
"And the producers weren’t happy that she’d been upset so much but you can only see her dabbing at her eyes on the episode though because the rest was cut out."
