EastEnders reveals brand new 40th anniversary twist as they share secrets of bombshell live week

The actors will be told of the outcome of the episode with just 20 minutes to go

EASTENDERS have confirmed that fans will be able to make TWO interactive decisions during the show's live episode for the 40th anniversary.

Previously, the soap had shared how fans would be able to vote for which suitor Denise Fox ended up with but now it has been clarified that it won't be the only decision that viewers get to make.

As well as being able to decide the fate of Denise's love story, it has now been confirmed that another decision will be left up to the fans.

Whilst details are remaining under wraps, it has been confirmed that the outcome of the decision will have a monumental effect on Walford.

It will go down in Walford's history and likely leave the viewers shook.

Details on how to make the two decisions next month have now been revealed with fans just needing a BBC Account to cast their vote.

Following an hour-long episode aired on the anniversary of the show's first episode on 19 February, a vote will open, allowing fans to choose Denise's suitor and the mystery decision.

Either Ravi Gulati or Jack Branning will be able to win Denise's affections as a result of the vote.

It will remain open for just under 24 hours when the vote will close ahead of a special live episode to be broadcast on the 20th February.

The vote will close at 7:10pm - just 20 minutes prior to the live episode.

When all the votes have been cast via the BBC website, the vote will be independently verified before being directly handed to the EastEnders executive producer, Chris Clenshaw.

Over the following 20 minutes, Chris will inform the cast and crew of the outcome whereby the scripts will be ditched and the ensuring drama will take hold.

The live episode will then kick off at 7:30pm on the 20th February.

In order to mark the momentous occasion, the Beeb will be going all out to dedicate its schedules to the show for the week with an abundance of accompanying content.

An exclusive documentary entitled EastEnders: 40 Years on the Square, fronted by Ross Kemp, will take fans on a lookback at the show's biggest moments and most impactful plots over the past four decades.

Elsewhere, BBC Three will air a special 45-minute interview show called EastEnders Revealed: The Lock In, fronted by Joe Swash.

In the show, Joe will chat to some of the cast at the heart of the episode and to find out the behind-the-scenes gossip of the high-stakes antics.

EastEnders' 40th anniversary cameos so far

With the 40th anniversary of EastEnders coming up, fans are looking forward to some more incredible cameos from iconic faces of Walford's past. But who have we had so far?

Tracy-Ann Oberman - Oberman returned as Chrissie Watts, a character she last played nearly two decades ago.

Paul Bradley - Bradley returned as Nigel Bates, a character he last played over 25 years ago.

Micheal French - French returned as David Wicks, a character he last played two decades ago.

Patsy Palmer - Palmer returned as Bianca Jackson, a character she last played in 2019.

Coming up this year...

Ross Kemp - Kemp will reprise his role as Grant Mitchell, a character he first played in 1990. The BBC has described Kemp's storyline as "explosive". Kemp said it was an "absolute honour" to return to the show.

Other aspects of the 40th anniversary celebration include: A wedding between fan favorites, A huge explosion at the Queen Vic, and A live interactive episode.
