The antique silver expert claimed he had been 'dying of thirst' while in the stroke ward

A statement posted on social media announced the tragedy - and sparked a slew of messages of condolence from loyal BBC show fans.

Michael, an expertise in antique silver, smallwork, boxes, early spoons, provincial and continental silver, suffered a stroke in October last year and shared a worrying video last month claiming he was "dying of thirst."

At the time, he took to social media to reach out to fans from his hospital bed.

The TV star - who said he had been in bed for five weeks at the time - claimed he had hardly been given any water by hospital staff.

Almost whispering, the expert said: "It's been a week now and I've been able to take fluids for two days. I was left without any water at all and have become badly dehydrated.

"For the last three days, I've been given a litre of water, which has been insufficient to stop me being dehydrated.

"The gaps between being given water have been 15 hours, 17 hours with no water, 12 hours with no water and currently 15 hours with no water intravenous."

"I'm dying of thirst in a British NHS hospital and no one seems prepared to do anything about it."

Star of BBC show Flog It, Michael Baggott dies

Michael's fans were quick to rush to show their support, with some even turning up at the Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham to try to offer support.

The Sun contacted Good Hope Hospital for comment at the time.

SAD PASSING

A statement on the television star's social media page announced his passing weeks after the ordeal.

It read: "Heartbroken to share that Michael died yesterday in hospital of a heart attack following a stroke in October.

"He was a dearly loved son, brother, nephew and uncle who will be deeply and profoundly missed.

"There will be a memorial service in the coming weeks, the details of which will be shared here."

Sadly his show Flog It! was dramatically axed by Beeb bosses in 2018 to make way for a "new generation" of daytime programming.

Meanwhile, in January 2024, Michael found himself at the centre of a sick death hoax and was forced to speak out and confirm he was alive.
