BBC star who ‘made so many people smile’ dies of heart attack in hospital after suffering stroke
BBC STAR Michael Baggott has died of a heart attack aged 65 - months after suffering a stroke.
The Flog It! antiques expert passed away in hospital on Tuesday, according to a post on his X account.
He'd suffered a stroke in October last year and shared a worrying video last month claiming he was "dying of thirst".
The X statement said: "Heartbroken to share that Michael died yesterday in hospital of a heart attack following a stroke in October.
"He was a dearly loved son, brother, nephew and uncle who will be deeply and profoundly missed.
"There will be a memorial service in the coming weeks, the details of which will be shared here."
In the video from December, he said he'd been bedridden for five weeks at Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham.
Almost whispering, the antiques expert said: "It's been a week now and I've been able to take fluids for two days.
"I was left without any water at all and have become badly dehydrated.
"For the last three days, I've been given a litre of water, which has been insufficient to stop me being dehydrated.
"The gaps between being given water have been 15 hours, 17 hours with no water, 12 hours with no water and currently 15 hours with no water intravenous.
"I'm dying of thirst in a British NHS hospital and no one seems prepared to do anything about it."
In another video he said he was in the "stroke" ward, adding: "Into my fifth bed bound week I'm afraid!"
He praised the nursing staff at the hospital and junior doctors as his "saving grace".
But he added: "They all want to help but can't. The senior doctors and senior managers who I never see always refuse water and refuse treatment.
"One told me if I don't 'buck up my ideas' in three weeks, I'll never able to walk again. Of course the junior staff told me that was nonsense."
In a third video, in which he seemed far more positive, he went on to say: "Hydrated at last, Radio 3 blaring and slightly happier and slightly more hopeful.
"Thank you to everybody who either came or sent a message. Hopefully the way back starts now."
FLOG IT!
Michael's love of antiques began when he was a school boy and he has forged a successful career out of his passion.
He previously hosted the BBC show Flog It! and had an expertise in antique silver, smallwork, boxes, early spoons, provincial and continental silver.

Sadly, Flog It! was dramatically axed by Beeb bosses in 2018 to make way for a "new generation" of daytime programming.
Meanwhile, in January last year, Michael found himself at the centre of a sick death hoax and was forced to speak out and confirm he was alive.
