The show follows Deborah Vance (Jean Smart), a legendary Las Vegas stand-up comedian who has to reinvent her act to maintain her residency at the Palmetto Casino.

Performing alongside her is Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder), a young comedy writer whose career took a nosedive after a controversial tweet.

After being forced to work together, the two develop a surprising bond.

Hannah has a 'rollercoaster' journey for Ava in series three, adding "she certainly comes out the other end of this season in a new place".
