Coronation Street fans convinced Roy Cropper has ‘long-lost love child’ – and they know who it is
CORONATION Street fans are convinced Roy Cropper has a 'long-lost love child' and they believe they know who it is.
Roy, played by David Neilson, was introduced in 1995 as 'a rather odd and scary loner' living in a block of flats.
Originally a temporary character, he was intended as a psychopathic, villain who would last for only six episodes.
David described his character as: "a bit like Norman Bates in the horror film Psycho."
However, luckily he felt compelled to reinvent Roy as a sympathetic character, socially inept, rather than menacing.
His unusual behaviour could be explained by Asperger syndrome, a disorder which David has since attempted to portray in the character.

This ultimately extended the character's screen life, turning him into a beloved fan favourite.
Roy has been featured in numerous high-profile storylines, most notably marrying the first transgender character in a British soap opera, Hayley Patterson (Julie Hesmondhalgh)
Roy and Hayley, who never had children, remained together until Hayley's heart breaking death in 2014 which devastated their legion of fans.
However, fans are now speculating that Roy may have an unknown love child from his past.

This week on the cobbles, Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) faced her trial for the murder of Joel Deering (Calum Lill).
The proceedings took a dramatic turn when Lauren's former cellmate Brie Benson (Jessica Ellis) stirred up trouble in court.
After Roy testified in court, an unforeseen claim came from Brie who emerged from the public gallery to accuse Laurel of attacking her in prison.
In a further revelation, it transpired that Brie was secretly conspiring with Joel's father to discredit Lauren's character.
Some avid Coronation Street viewers believe Brie might actually be Roy's long-lost offspring reports
