Love Island star ‘terrorised by Uber stalker who returned to lurk outside her home after looking her up on Instagram’
A LOVE Island star was "terrorised by an Uber driver stalker who returned to lurk outsider her home after looking her up on Instagram".
Anna-May Robey, 22, had been travelling home after a night out with a friend in Manchester when she says the Uber driver began to act "strangely".
The star, who appeared on season 9 of the ITV show in 2023, described how the driver "stopped the vehicle and pulled her over to look her up on Instagram" before he then offered "a refund for the trip".
Anna-May said: "I think he must have seen my name when I booked it [the Uber] and he was asking me what I do for a living.
"Then he asked me what my Instagram username was - He pulled over and looked at it [my Instagram account] and said he was going to refund me the money for the trip."
After being dropped home, Anna-May said the experience became even more "strange" as she claims to have received a phone call from the same driver just 20 minutes after she was dropped off.

The celeb, who lasted just nine days in the villa before being dumped from the Island, claims the Uber driver then asked her to "come downstairs because he had something for her".
Anna-May, originally from Swansea but now living in Manchester, "freaked out" at the man's request but played along with his request to go downstairs before hanging up and blocking his number.
The Love Island star explained she had ordered food from Deliveroo when she received the call from the random number, assuming it was related to her delivery.
However, she claims it was the Uber driver contacting her, saying he "had something" for her.
She shared the story in a video on TikTok to her 76,300 followers, saying she was "creeped out" by the event.
Some viewers suggested the driver's behaviour was a "breach of data protection", with Uber branding the alleged incident as "totally unacceptable", adding that it is "currently investigating".
Anna-May says the incident, which took place in September last year, has left her rattled and as a result she now tries to avoid speaking to drivers and always travels with a friend for additional safety.
She explained how uncomfortable it was that the Uber driver appeared to know so much about her personal life and details.
After sharing her experience online, Anna-May said Uber's safety team reached out to her and contacted the driver in order to investigate the incident.
The star explained the team told her that the driver claimed to have returned to the flat and phoned her in order to give her "an earring she had left on the back seat".
But Anna-May believes this was a "lie" as she had not left an earring in his car.
She said she had returned to her flat with the earrings she had been wearing and that the Uber driver would not have had to "lie" if she had actually left something in the rear of the motor.
'TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE'
Anna-May, who previously worked as a payroll administrator, said: "He's obviously lying saying that I left my earring in the back of the car.
"Obviously I hadn't and because he was lying, what were his intentions?"
While the Uber driver has since been blocked from picking her up for future trips, Anna-May still fears what may have happened if she had gone downstairs on her own to meet the driver.
She feels frustrated and claims Uber "did not take it as far as they should have" and worries that it may happen again to "anyone".
One person commented: "Not an Uber driver taxi, but [another] delivery man got my number from the app I assume and kept trying to call and WhatsApp me lol."
Anna-May said the experience has changed how she uses Uber and recommended others to try and travel with a friend when they can.
She added: "I would say be careful what you share, and if you can, get in an Uber with a friend.
"They are tracked and everything like that and I think Uber safety does try to make Ubers as safe as they can, because they are known for being quite safe with the app and everything like that.
"It's probably not even Uber, it's the person and it's just a bit unlucky because some people are wrong and they will take advantage of the fact that they're picking up young girls from a night out as their job."

A spokesperson for Uber said: "What has been described is totally unacceptable and we are currently investigating.
"All drivers who use the Uber app are required to follow our Community Guidelines and anyone found to be in breach of these guidelines risks losing access to the app."
