She hosted a one-off Weakest Link fundraising event for a school building project in the Cotswolds.

Anne, 80, grilled celebrity contestants, including broadcaster Kay Burley.

This non-televised special edition took place at Cirencester's The Barn Theatre.

Kay penned on X: "Fun evening with the Queen of Mean to raise funds for @HatheropCastle who need a new roof for their classroom.

"@tomparkerbowles was just too good! Thanks all for having me x."

Proceeds are for the Hatherop Big Build, a campaign to raise £1.5m to expand Hatherop Primary School.

Back in April 2011, Anne announced her decision to leave The Weakest Link after over a decade.

She told : "I originally said I would do [the programme for] 10 years.

By 2022, the presenter revealed she had twice turned down the opportunity to return - saying she couldn't be as mean as she wanted.

Elsewhere, Romesh Ranganathan has been hosting celebrity-only editions on BBC One.

The comedian and actor, 46, took over presenting The Weakest Link in 2021.

When he began hosting the series, Romesh made sure to praise his predecessor.

He said: “Anne was an amazing host and to step into her shoes is an anxiety-inducing privilege.

“I’m hoping we’ve found a way to make both the fans of the show happy as well as bringing a new audience to it.”

The Weakest Link airs on BBC One and iPlayer.
