UNCANNY host Danny Robins has landed a huge new BBC spin-off - with the hit show's return just days away.

The BBC has announced Uncanny: Post Mortem, the first visualised podcast for Radio 4’s popular paranormal series Uncanny.

Uncanny became a hit BBC Two television series last year, having originated in audio form back in 2021.

The format sees host Danny investigate real-life stories of seemingly paranormal and supernatural events.

As for the new podcast, it plans to bring together famous fans comprising both believers and sceptics.

Uncanny: Post Mortem will debut on BBC Two and iPlayer from Friday, January 31.

It will air Fridays on BBC Two immediately after TV episode,s with an extended version available on BBC Sounds.

The visualised podcast format follows the success of Traitors: Uncloaked, presented by Ed Gamble, giving listeners exclusive behind the scenes access to hit BBC series The Traitors.

Celebrity ghost watchers set to appear include Charlie Cooper, Meera Syal and Kiell Smith-Bynoe - the latter of whom starred in hit BBC comedy Ghosts.

Regular Uncanny experts such as Evelyn Hollow will also join Danny alongside the lead witness for each story.

Addressing news of the podcast, Danny said: "Our Uncanny cases are so intriguing and frankly b****y frightening that after watching an episode you always want to discuss it - chatting over theories on what happened and that biggest of all questions "do ghosts exist?"

"So now, brilliantly, we can do that in Uncanny: Post Mortem, directly after the main show...

"It's the kind of delicious deep dive you will be desperate to do after getting hooked on each of these strange chilling cases.

"You'll hear more from me, our experts, witnesses and some brilliant celebrity Uncanny fans.

"Expect new evidence and new leads! I can't wait!"

Uncanny's second series was first confirmed to fans back in May 2024.

Viewers will be invited to send in their own opinions and theories about each individual case.

Uncanny - notable guests on Radio 4 version

Aside from finding success on BBC Two, Uncanny originated in audio form on Radio 4.

Here are some of the famous faces who have sat down with Danny Robins.

  • Mark Gatiss - Actor and writer, winner of awards including BAFTA and Primetime Emmy. Well known for The League of Gentlemen, Sherlock and Game of Thrones.
  • Laurence Rickard - Comedian and writer; co-creator of BBC comedy series Ghosts.
  • Laura Whitmore - Television presenter and model; host of Love Island from 2020 to 2022.
  • David Baddiel - Comedian and presenter
  • Daisy May Cooper - Actress and writer, also star and co-creator of This Country.

They are also encouraged to provide any information that may help with the investigations.

Danny said at the time: "I've been blown away and moved by the response to our first season, and I'm grateful to the BBC for supporting us in making something that feels really different I hope to anything else out there.

"It was a thrill to see fans of the podcast loving it, but also to welcome a whole new audience."

Uncanny: Post Mortem launches from January 31.
