The Masked Singer viewers ‘work out’ identity of Snail as girlband legend after clever clue
VIEWERS of The Masked Singer believe they might have 'worked out' out the identity of one character, as they are convinced it's a member of an iconic girlband.
ITV viewers watched The Masked Singer kick off with a plethora of new characters, including Snail.
Snail was introduced with a VT that hinted at period dramas like Bridgerton and high society, yet fans were more convinced that the female singer behind the mask was in fact a member of Girls Aloud.
Writing on X, fans speculated that the singer was in fact Cheryl - with the clues pointing towards her cameo in St Trinian's.
She took to the stage to sing 'Espresso' by Sabrina Carpenter, with a garden themed performance.
One viewer wrote: "Snail’s voice sounds like Cheryl but it can’t be??!!"

Another added: "Snail is Cheryl Cole - St Trinian's (Girls Aloud did music video) and she said Toon not tune."
"No idea about snail. I do think the singing voice sounds a bit like Cheryl but the clues don't relate to her," said a third.
A fourth posted: "Snail is sounding very Cheryl Cole to me? Or am I tripping?"
"Sounds like Cheryl Cole to me," shared another.
This wouldn't be the first time a member of Girls Aloud has graced the stage as Nicola Roberts won the first ever series of the show dressed as The Queen Bee in 2022.
However some viewers have other ideas, as the clues were Downton Abbey-esq meaning they could be Bridgerton and Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan.
Elsewhere the first episode of The Masked Singer was also hit by an awkward moment as new judge Maya Jama leaked the identity of 'Giant Joel' who was teased on the Christmas special.
Taking to social media, the brunette star showed off her incredible first show look before she stepped out to take on her new TV role.
Yet in her Instagram snap she posed alongside Olympic legend Mo Farah on the panel, letting slip there was a special guest.
Fans did not let the gaffe go unnoticed as they pointed it out in her comments as they suggested she might want to delete it.
Confident Maya replied: "Mo is a guest panelist episode 1 it’s not a secret x."
