Which has led some to cast their attention back to previous years, during which they noticed the A-list star in the 2016 Christmas special.

A TikTok user shared a clip in which Jake, played by Tyger Drew-Honey, can be seen with his girlfriend.

His dad, played by Hugh Dennis, is also in the festive clip, but all eyes are on Hollywood actress Daisy Edgar-Jones.

The British actress, who found fame in BBC’s Normal People – the Sally Rooney-penned Irish drama we all fell in love with during the pandemic – has also starred in the likes of Where The Crawdads Sing and, more recently, Twisters.

But social media users have noticed that she also bagged a part as Jake’s girlfriend in Outnumbered.

Shocked Daisy fans penned on social media: “OMG WHAT?!”

Someone else said: “There’s no way!!”

And others speculated as to whether she’d be in the new Christmas episode, which sadly she was not.

Outnumbered fans shocked as Brockman family hit with tragic cancer shock as show returns for Christmas special after 8 years

As Outnumbered returned for its 2024 Christmas special, sadly some viewers weren’t too impressed.

While fans were looking forward to seeing the Brockman clan all grown up, they were left rocked when it was revealed that Pete was suffering from prostate cancer.

The character was left to break the news to his three children.

While the upsetting scenes left fans devastated, they also slammed the special and Ramona Marquez, Daniel Roche and Tyger Drew-Honey's acting.

Posting on social media, one said: "After 8 long years, that #Outnumbered special reunion was… weird. Completely the opposite of #GavinAndStacey! It was nice to see the characters again, but who on earth thought bringing back a beloved comedy show just to give the dad cancer with no resolution was a good idea?"

A second wrote: "It was really bad, felt flat, awkward and not funny at all."

"Absolutely awful waste of time. Dreadful script, dreadful acting, one of the worst programmes on tv all year," said a third fan.

While a fourth commented: "I REALLY wanted to love it…. but Jane and Karen had to CARRY that thing on their backs. It felt like all the children had forgotten how to act and I literally started awkward giggling because the jokes were so flat."
