Ruth Langsford reveals she’s keeping up family traditions during first Christmas since split from Eamonn Holmes

RUTH Langsford has revealed she's keeping up with family traditions - as she celebrates first Christmas since Eamonn Holmes split.

Ruth, 64, and Eamonn, 65, announced their separation in May after 14 years of marriage and a 27-year relationship.

Eamonn has since moved on with Katie Alexander, 43 and recently sparked engagement rumours after she was spotted with a huge ring on her finger.

While Ruth has been busy caring for her elderly mum Joan, 94, after she suffered a recent fall and broke her pelvis.

The former This Morning presenter took to her Instagram to share a video of her beautifully decorated dining table.

The Loose Women star opted for a gold and red theme, with a bows, crackers, candles neatly placed and a bottle of Champagne waiting to be popped open.

Ruth captioned it: "Another family tradition….laying the Christmas Day lunch table on Christmas eve….saves SO much time in the morning!

"Gone for a red & gold theme this year."

Fans were quick to compliment Ruth on her festive decor.

One wrote: "Ooo I counted 8 place settings. Can’t help be curious who’s invited to your Christmas meal. Have a lovely day."

A second posted: "Looks so pretty. I hope you have a lovely day, you deserve it. Merry Christmas to you, Mum and Maggie."

Another added: "Table looks lovely Ruth. Merry Christmas to you and your lovely Mum."

Ruth has been keeping fans updated on her mum's health.

Last week she shared a look at Joan's face bruising after a nasty fall saw her taken to hospital.

She wrote: “Mum’s got a right shiner after her fall,” before telling fans that she was trying to soothe it with Arnica cream.

TV star Ruth also penned: “94 years old and hardly a grey hair… I’m hoping I’ve inherited the gene.”

Ruth first told fans of her mum’s horror accident as she penned: "Hospital visit….thank you all so much for your lovely messages and well wishes for my darling Mum.

"She’ll be in hospital for a bit longer yet, but she’s in pretty good spirits considering and I hope she’ll be home for Christmas."

The former This Morning anchor then took to the comments section to reply to one fan, who wrote: "Aw bless her, I bet she is a model patient.

"Hopefully she will be better soon and home soon for Christmas, have a lovely Christmas."

Mum of one Ruth was quick to reply: "She is a model patient.

"Although a bit discombobulated."

In her more recent update, Ruth showed her mum tuning into the programme Butterflies, featuring Wendy Craig and Geoffrey Palmer from 1978.

Ruth’s mum’s injury prompted Ruth's ex Eamonn to get in touch.

Her most recent post about Joan was commented on by hoards of celebrity friends and fans - but was also 'liked' by ex-husband Eamonn.

It came shortly after The Sun exclusively revealed how former This Morning anchor Eamonn and his former wife Ruth were pushing for a "quickie divorce."

The pair's terms for their split have now come to light following their shock split in May.

Yet the timing of Eamonn's recent romantic trip to Paris with new girlfriend Katie Alexander - and the divorce conditions - have sparked speculation he is now engaged to the marriage counsellor.

She was seen wearing a huge ring as she strolled the streets of the French capital.
