Speaking to The Sun, Chris said: “We’ve got a New Year storyline with Suki and Eve’s wedding which will be central to the action.

“It is EastEnders’ first lesbian wedding, Nish is out there he’s gone underground, it’s his final act of vengeance.

“My heart was in my mouth when I watched those episodes, and I knew what was coming! Expect lots of drama at New Year.”

The executive producer also teased the upcoming Christmas chaos as Cindy Beale’s affair with Junior Knight is exposed.

He said: “I think it was important for us, after last year we did a flash forward episode, a format-breaking idea, with the flash forward and the six, I think this year because we are entering our 40th year it was really important to us that it was a classic EastEnders

“It was quite a while ago now, but as always with EastEnders and any continuing drama, there’s always that flexibility, but this time last year we probably knew that we were going to have a bit of a Beales/Knight Christmas, but anything can change, we brought back Cindy last summer (2023) so we were always heading of a Christmas 2024 with Cindy getting her comeuppance.

“If you bring back Cindy Beale you want Cindy Beale. We always knew it probably wouldn’t take too long for her to look elsewhere and get up to her old tricks.

“There’s a lot going on it’s not just the Beale/Knight saga. Obviously you would have seen the Stacey, Martin and Ruby love triangle.

“Since Ruby’s return, Stacey’s definitely got the feels it’s just whether or not she plucks up the courage or it’s too late.

“ As you would have seen, Phil is in the midst of a loneliness storyline, he’s got family around him but despite that he’s struggling and as per usual with Steve McFadden, moving forward as we head through the festive period, he’s blowing my socks off.

“It’s a really interesting and different story to tell with Phil Mitchell who we all feel like we know, or know someone like Phil, Steve has just been phenomenal.”
