BBC announces huge presenting shake up for flagship breakfast show – with new host joining next month

The new show host has a journalism award under his belt

THE BBC has announced that broadcaster Aaron Paul will take over as the host of the BBC Radio London Breakfast Show starting next month.

Aaron, who currently hosts sport on 5 Live, will step into his new role from Monday, January 6, 2025.

He will be presenting the show four days a week, Monday to Thursdays, from 6am to 10am.

Meanwhile, BBC London presenter Riz Lateef will continue her Friday morning slot.

Speaking about his new role, Aaron gushed: "London is such a diverse, vibrant, and cosmopolitan city, and it’s a privilege to be able to wake up with Londoners every morning.

"I’m looking forward to sharing stories, sparking conversations, and highlighting the voices and issues that define this special city.

"I’ll keep it real, keep it relevant, and keep it London, as we wake up together, tackle the news, share a laugh, and celebrate everything this city has to offer.

"It’s going to be an incredible ride, and I am truly excited to get started."

Aaron’s appointment has been warmly welcomed by Sara David, Executive Editor at BBC Radio London, who said: "I am delighted that Aaron is joining the breakfast show.

"He brings joy and passion to every show he presents, and he is the perfect person to brighten up mornings for Londoners."

Aaron’s move to the breakfast slot is part of an effort to refresh the BBC Radio London schedule.

He previously won an award for Sports Journalist of the Year at the Asian Media Awards in 2023, which earned him praise from colleagues and friends.
