Mike White’s acclaimed anthology series began in Hawaii and moved to Sicily for season two, but series three will be based on an exclusive Thai resort.

It was a satirical drama that gripped viewers for his dark portrayal of wealthy holidaymakers whose lives are turned upside down with murderous consequences.

Its first series, which aired in July 2021 and was set in Hawaii, won 10 out of 20 Emmy nominations across 13 categories.

Mike told People: "In the first season, we highlighted money, and then the second season was sex.

"I think the third season would be maybe a kind of satirical and funny look at death in Eastern religion and spirituality—it feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus."

Viewers are in for a thrilling adventure if it is anything like the last two series.

Teasing the film, the strapline is "What happens in Thailand, stays in Thailand."

The trailer features a monk who says: "Everyone runs from pain towards pleasure, but they get there only to find more pain."
