THE Hairy Bikers star Si King has made a heartbreaking confession about his grief 10 months on from best pal Dave Myers' tragic passing.

Si, 58, reminisced on his friendship with his fellow Geordie, with whom he hosted a slew of cookery shows, as well as authored a series of cook books.

He told hosts Susanna Reid, 54, and Richard Madeley, 68, of the strength of their enduring bond which has continued long after Dave's passing from cancer.

Telly favourite Dave - who was the other half of The Hairy Bikers duo - tragically died in February aged 66.

He had fought cancer since 2022, keeping fans up to date on his illness through the years.

On GMB, Si opened up on their bond and said: "Just because he's passed, it doesn't stop him from being my best mate."

Host Richard then asked: "Do you still talk to him [Dave]?" to which Si replied: "Well, I nearly rang him up the other day.

"I thought, I haven't heard from him for yonks, then I thought 'oh' ...

"It's just that reflex, it's that reference point, me and Dave were both each others' reference point because of our friendships together."

Si then revealed he had completed a new cook book which the pair had started together, and which Dave had already penned one quarter of before his passing.

And as well as the book, Susanna flagged Si was navigating the "tough" time with a new telly role - yet there was a hilarious blunder as Si made his big reveal.

Susanna said: "In fact, you have a new role in ITV daytime."

TRAGIC PASSING

Earlier this year, Si announced Dave's passing on social media.

His co-star made public the tragic news in a statement, prompting a flurry of emotional tributes from celebrity friends and fans alike.

Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, Si said at the time: "Hi everyone, I'm afraid I bear some sad news.

"Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years.

"Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave's wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home.

"All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own.

"Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can't follow.

"I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.

“I wish you god's speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.”
