You Bet! given a second series by ITV bosses – before reboot with Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern has even aired

Two episodes will air on Saturday 7 and Sunday 22 December

ITV bosses have given the popular quiz show You Bet! a second series before the reboot with Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern has even aired.

Many may remember that the show began with the legendary Bruce Forsyth in 1988, who presented it until 1990. Then, in Stars in Their Eyes, Matthew Kelly took over in 1991, followed by Darren Day from 1996 to 1997.

Now, the show is being revived for a new generation - 27 years after it aired.

Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern are rebooting the new series and will invite famous faces to join them on the panel.

During the original show, various members of the public bet they could do a challenge.

The task was then performed in front of three celebrities and the audience, who gambled on the outcome of the challenge.

If the celeb bets yes, the percentage of the audience who bets yes determines the score's outcome.

Ultimately, all the scores are added together and the total amount is donated to the winner's chosen charity.

The new format of You Bet! 2024/25 remains the same with the same celeb panel and studio audience and scoring system - but there's a twist.

It will feature even more updates as the public attempts to complete even more outlandish challenges to win a lucrative cash prize.

The celeb with the lowest score will have to do a final forfeit.

Comedian Rob Beckett will lead the celebrity panel along with Great British Bake Off's Judi Love, singer Olly Murs, and England football goalkeeper Mary Earps.

Other celebs on the panel will include Loose Women presenter Alison Hammond, presenter and podcaster Rosie Ramsey, and former football manager Harry Redknapp.

20 years on TV

By Ellie Henman

TELLY favourite Stephen Mulhern got his big break as a TV host on a kids’ show more than 20 years ago — alongside current Dancing On Ice co-host Holly Willoughby.

Initially with Michael Underwood, they presented Ministry of Mayhem — later rebranded as Holly And Stephen’s Saturday Showdown — on ITV from 2004 until its axe in 2006.

He had earlier used his magic skills to win Jonathan Ross’ Big Big Talent Show, which led to a Royal Variety Performance outing in 1997.

Later, Stephen hosted Britain’s Got More Talent for 12 years until 2019 and joined BGT hosts Ant and Dec on Saturday Night Takeaway in 2016.

That also led to spin-off In For A Penny in 2019.

ITV also picked him for their reboots of Catchphrase and Deal Or No Deal, and he replaced Phillip Schofield on Dancing On Ice — reuniting him with friend Holly.
