She is due to bid farewell to Weatherfield on Christmas Day during the soap's one hour special.
But upcoming Coronation Street scenes will see Gail's mother Audrey Platt attempt to block her daughter from leaving.
Audrey will pretend she's been struck down by an illness, leaving Gail worried.

When Gail takes her temperature, Audrey cunningly dips the thermometer into David Platt's coffee.
After seeing the results, Gail then orders her mum to see a doctor as soon as possible.
Later on, Audrey can't hide her disdain for Gail soon-to-be sixth husband.
Gail tells Shona and Sarah that she’s arranged a pre-wedding pampering session at the salon for all of them and they’ll need to take the morning off.
