As the duo finished their news segment, they transitioned to a sports update with Mike Bushell.

Following his segment, Mike was left hanging after he signed off saying: "There we are..."

Yet the camera stayed fixed on him, prompting him to gesture to the team. Charlie quipped: "Sorry, Mike, I didn't realise you'd finished there. My apologies!"

He added: "There was a moment there I thought you were building up the momentum."

Bemused Mike retorted: "Well I could have done, I'm looking forward to what is coming next!"

But things still did not move forward, leaving the exasperated cameramen to pick up the pieces.

It was a bit of an embarrassment for the team - followed by an earlier blunder this week.

When Sally Nugent and Jon Kay presented, it came time to hand over to the weatherman, Matt Taylor, who would cover for Carol Kirkwood. Things turned frosty.

Matt attempted to display his weather charts, but a technical mishap struck and they failed to materialised.

He began the weather report with "We're flip-flopping from one extreme to another at the moment but another cold one this morning, a temperature drop through the night...."

But then as he tried to show viewers the graphics, he hit the button in vain.

But Matt increasingly became exasperated temporarily let down his guard for a moment and mumbled: "Let's see if we can get these charts to work; it doesn't really want to work."

Pragmatic Sally commented, "I think you would have gotten away with that if we hadn't just mentioned it."

John joked: "I think it's so cold your computer graphics have frozen. Get the de-icer out!"

Matt continued, "Tomorrow morning, it will be a cold start. I'll have details on all of that and hopefully get the graphics to work in about half an hour."
