I’m A Celebrity’s most iconic trial set for its own spin-off show on ITV – and you could be on it!
Celebrity campmates are always desperate to play the game.
I’M A Celebrity’s most famous trial Celebrity Cyclone is in line for its own spin-off programme, The Sun can reveal.
The annual jungle challenge sees the final four campmates dress as superheroes to battle for stars along a slippery slope, whilst pelted by water cannons and supersized wind machines.
This year, bosses will for the first time use the build to test out ideas for a standalone TV series – including a format which could cast members of the public.
But popular hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will not be involved.
A TV insider said: “A spin-off show for the Cyclone makes absolute sense and across the industry it has always been considered a TV hit in waiting.
“Cyclone could evolve and use the core basis of the water slide to become a wider show.
“If the testing proves successful there is every intention to look at a full series in the future.”
An ITV source confirmed: “Cyclone is such a hugely popular part of I’m A Celebrity that show bosses felt it was worth exploring ideas to see if anything might work as a stand alone show.
“They’ll be looking at all aspects of the game.”
Makers Lifted Entertainment have trademarked Celebrity Cyclone with a view to explore ways to expand it outside of the main show.
The news will delight fans of the long-running ITV favourite, who have clamoured for a cyclone spin-off for years.
Countless celebrities have declared their only hope for the series is reaching the trial.
Over the years, it’s played host to some of I’m A Celebrity’s most dramatic moments – including the time in 2012 Ant and Dec themselves played to raise money for charity Text Santa.
Dec revealed in 2022 that he sustained a serious shoulder injury taking part which took six months’ physiotherapy to recover from.
He said: “Fun times though guys, fun times.”
Ant added: “Everybody who watches the show always wants to give it a go.”
Other moments ingrained in TV history include the sight of former politician Matt Hancock in a pair of tiny, gold hotpants and Vernon Kay calmly striding up the course to bad the fastest time ever.
