I’m A Celeb’s Dean McCullough addresses ‘feud’ with Ant McPartlin and says ‘he gave me a telling off – and he meant it’
Watch the Radio 1 DJ discuss Ant's comments about him on today's GMB
I’M A CELEBRITY’S Dean McCullough has opened up on his “feud” with show host Ant McPartlin after being evicted from the camp.
The BBC Radio 1 DJ became the second celebrity to be given the boot from the 2024 jungle last night.
During his time in the Aussie camp, Dean, 32, was tasked with a whopping seven Bushtucker Trials – yet Ant looked less than impressed when he quit one early.
After Dean left camp, Ant addressed his “tough love” towards the broadcaster during his live exit interview on ITV.
And on Monday’s Good Morning Britain, Dean spoke out on their alleged bad blood.
He told host Susanna Reid, 53, he “got used to the tension” of doing the gruesome foodie tasks – yet admitted: “I wouldn’t say I loved the trials.”
Talking of Ant’s attitude towards him, Dean continued: “When Ant was telling me off for saying ‘I’m A Celebrity get me out of here,’ I felt it was a proper telling off.
“I feel like he meant it.
“So I did what I was told and I wanted to to win him back around,
which I think I did in the end.”
Susanna reassured him: “You did, that was interesting, wasn’t it, he was a bit ansty with you, wasn’t he?”
Dean said: “Yeah, I believe he was. But it worked.
“It meant that I eventually got 10 stars home for camp and I got a handshake.”
Susanna then mused: “It was a bit of tough love from Ant McPartlin there.”
CLAP BACK
On her arrival Down Under, Dean’s mum Ann hit back at Ant’s criticism of her son.
She exclusively told us: “I think Ant’s been a wee bit hard on him.
“I’m gonna have to have a wee word with Ant about that, maybe later.”
Ann added: “He has been game for anything.
“He’s just been himself, and we’re all so, so proud.”
After his fate was declared on Sunday’s I’m A Celeb, Dean said: “I have really, really soaked up this whole experience, all the trials, you know, the things that I faced.
“I got stuck in at camp, done a bit of everything, and I really, really, really enjoyed it.
“And when I woke up this morning, I thought, if I go today, I am over the moon because I’ve not missed out on anything.”
Dean added: “I’ve learned that life is better when it’s simpler. You really, really don’t need to be on your phone all the time.
“You don’t need to be chasing the next appointment, the next meeting, the next gig…
“You can literally just sit in the moment and just watch what is going on.”
