Cookbook author Lucy, who welcomed her baby boy in March, told how the family had spent a terrifying few days in the hospital ward.

She captured a snap of the tot, eight months, cuddling up to his dad as they read a book while awaiting treatment.

In her caption, the Made in Chelsea stalwart wrote: "Grateful to all be back in our beds after the last two days in hospital with baby W.

"Sending love to anyone with a sick child.

"It's so scary, but so important to trust your instincts with these things.

"Thank you to the NHS for looking after my baby."

She added: "RSV season is on us."

Lucy, who is currently starring on spin-off Beyond Chelsea, continued with a slide of her little boy playing with a ball in his cot.

He had a dummy in his mouth but was still attached by tubes.

She continued: "So so grateful for the child health and safety course we did when I was pregnant.

";Honestly because of this we knew the signs to look out for.

"Cannot recommend enough."

Lucy then posted a slide detailing the signs and symptoms of Respiratory Syncytial Virus infection.

Earlier this year, Lucy confirmed she had given birth to a baby boy as she captioned another Instagram post: "He's here."

Symptoms of RSV

PEOPLE commonly show symptoms of the virus four to six days after being infected.

Signs include:

  • Runny nose
  • Decrease in appetite
  • Coughing
  • Sneezing
  • Fever
  • Wheezing

But symptoms can be much more subtle in very young babies, including irritability, decreased activity and breathing difficulties.

Most children will have had an RSV infection by their second birthday.

It can cause a condition called bronchiolitis in babies and young children.

Symptoms of bronchiolitis in very young infants include:

  1. Refusal to breastfeed or bottle-feed
  2. Breathing more quickly and noisily (wheezing)
  3. Seeming very tired, upset or inactive
  4. Signs of dehydration – lack of tears when crying, little or no urine in their nappy for six hours, and cool, dry skin

She then added his birth date, the 2nd of March, to the post.

Lucy could be seen cradling her newborn in a black and white snap as her boyfriend, James Dunmore, 32, sweetly planted a kiss on her head as they cooed over the adorable newborn.

Lucy's son's face could not be seen in the photo as she held onto him tightly in the heart-warming picture.
