Married At First Sight’s reunion episodes hit with over 500 furious complaints to Ofcom as fans slam show ‘bullies’

The complaints were for the final two episodes

MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT has been hit with another slew of Ofcom complaints, which came after the explosive reunion episodes last week.

On Wednesday (November 13) and Thursday (November 14) last week, Married At First Sight UK aired its final episodes from the series - and they received more than 500 complaints in total.

After weeks of witnessing the couples navigate their way through the experiment, the show concluded in an explosive way that has in turn resulted in a barrage of complaints.

The episode which aired on November 13 was the reunion dinner party that saw most of the couples reunite with one another at the mixer before sitting down for a meal.

This episode received a whopping 341 complaints from E4 viewers.

During this episode, things heated up and kicked off when controversial bride Hannah made a comeback, and when couple Adam and Polly had a huge row.

According to the broadcasting regulator, Ofcom received hundreds of complaints related to "alleged bullying behaviour during the programme".

The complaints were in relation to the confrontational moments between Holly and Polly towards Hannah and Adam, and how "the experts failed to address this behaviour, and the use of offensive language during these interactions".

Meanwhile, the more mellow episode that aired on November 14 also received complaints relating to "alleged bullying behaviour", despite this comprising of calm sit-down chats on the coaches with the experts.

The 187 complaints made by viewers related to the behaviour "particularly from Holly and Polly towards Hannah".

And again, the complaints also related to how "the experts failed to address this behaviour".

HOLLY AND HANNAH CLASH

Midway through the 2024 MAFS UK series, Holly, who was married to Alex before they left the experiment, clashed with Hannah who was married to Stephen.

MAFS UK’s ‘most hated’ bride Hannah hits out at Holly as furious row airs following ‘stealing husbands’ scandal

Holly and Hannah clashed when the couples went on a countryside retreat for a few days.

At the time, Hannah and her husband Stephen were at loggerheads after their honeymoon ended in disaster, with their marriage hanging by a thread.

While at the retreat, brides Holly and Polly both thought that Hannah was making inappropriate comments towards the other grooms.

And Holly was convinced that Hannah was trying to flirt with her husband Alex.

Mafs couples that have stood the test of time

Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby.

The pair couldn't keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam's Doncaster home.

Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau.

Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.

Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: “I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out - and excited for everything to come.”

Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019.

Owen recalled: “I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work.

"While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in.

“The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I signed up?’

“A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.”

Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.

Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna's vegan lifestyle, the show's first same sex pairing are still going strong.

They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod.

Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: "We're not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship."

She explained how Hannah told Alex how he was her “favourite groom” and then during a game she said she's husband swap with Alex.

Then, during the Girls' Night earlier this month, Holly and Hannah clashed again - sparking more Ofcom complaints when Holly publicly accused Hannah of flirting with Sionainn's husband Ryan.

But tempers frayed once again at the reunion dinner party when Holly was told that Hannah had spoken about her daughter.

Hannah then admitted during the sit-down chat with the experts that her banter could have been taken the wrong way before Holly snapped back at her.

She said: "I walked into the room on Ladies Night and got called a s**g and 'look what the cat dragged in' and I just wouldn't treat another woman like that."

POLLY AND ADAM FEUD

Polly and Adam's feud was also in the firing line for Ofcom complaints, which came after he slammed her for talking about him at the table.

He then aired details on their sex life, shouting: "Why are you b******g about someone who doesn't f*****g want you?"

Polly was at the end of her tether and threw a whole glass of red wine over Adam's white tuxedo, with him covered in red splashes for the rest of the episode.

The bride also fired expletives at her former husband, with her storming out of the room shortly after.
