Before heading into camp, Jane, 62, said: “I've said to my daughter, don't go looking for things, because it will pass.

“When it's all over, it's all over.

“For me, if it doesn't make it into a printed newspaper, then it's not a story.

Jane has written for The Sun since 1985, when she joined us aged 23 as Bizarre Editor.

A career in TV followed including on the ITV daytime chat show and her own documentaries.

But only now does she feel that she’s stepped into the showbiz arena - and is conscious she probably has less fans than her other campmates.

She added: “I think it's all about social media followings, to be honest. And mine is minimal.

“Being a journalist I genuinely don't see myself as a celebrity.

“I see myself as a journalist.”
