Adrian, 66, gave the exciting update as he spoke on Virgin Radio UK with Ryan Tubridy this morning.

Hastings has a plethora of his favourite sayings, and it seems he is not too far off adding a few more to his everyday vocabulary.

During his interview, Adrian said: “The one I didn't get in, which is kind of a really good Irish one about not stopping things happening is, ‘Don't stall the digger’. ‘Don’t stall the digger’.

"That's a good one, isn't it? Like, you know, ‘You’ve got to keep going’. That's going in the next season.”

His admission comes after he confirmed to the show host that a brand new script for the show was in the works from writer Jed Mercurio but the cast had yet to receive it.

Adrian said: “He is writing… We haven't got a script on the desk yet.

"We know that Dr. Mercurio is out there doing something, Jed is writing. But as to when it's going to happen, we don't know.”

The new revelations from Adrian come after The Sun exclusively reported that he and co-stars Vicky McClure and Martin Compston sat down with Jed to hammer out a deal regarding the upcoming seventh series.
