Yet now The Sun can reveal that Lacey Martin, 27, and Nathan Campbell, 24, secretly split after filming for Married At First Sight ended earlier this year.

This week, we can report how viewers will see the couple commit to each other at final vows, which air tonight, and agree to give their relationship a go outside of the experiment.

They will also still be together at the two part reunion, which airs Wednesday and Thursday night.

But the pair secretly split after filming for the series and the subsequent reunion wrapped.

Our source has told The Sun: “Nathan and Lacey really tried to make their relationship work in the real world but it just fizzled after a while.

"The final vows were filmed in February and they were still going strong in April when the reunion was shot, but since then they have called in quits.

"They were both sad it didn't work out, but sadly it wasn't meant to be.

"It's also a big blow for fans who were really invested in their relationship.

"They were widely viewed as the strongest couple of the series so the news that they are no longer an item is such a shame."

The shock split comes after it was revealed Lacey was rushed to hospital on the E4 show - in scenes that did not make it to air.

Yet last weeks episode painted a bright picture for the couple as they enjoyed a day out.

They exchanged I Love Yous and gifts, which saw Nathan dedicate a star to his bride.

Yet this did not come without incident, with Nathan throwing up before the big declaration due to a rocky helicopter ride.

LASTING LOVE?

Previously, The Sun revealed that during final vows this week, two couples will decide to stay together while two will split.

Mafs couples that have stood the test of time

Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby.

The pair couldn't keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam's Doncaster home.

Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau.

Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.

Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: “I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out - and excited for everything to come.”

Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019.

Owen recalled: “I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work.

"While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in.

“The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I signed up?’

“A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.”

Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.

Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna's vegan lifestyle, the show's first same sex pairing are still going strong.

They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod.

Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: "We're not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship."

The Sun will keep the identities of which two couples break up a secret, so as to not to spoil the surprise for viewers.

A TV insider told us: “It’s very dramatic, emotional viewing. The finale basically sees the show end with a 50% success rate as two of the remaining four couples decide to continue with their relationships outside the show, while the other two call it a day.

“There are lots of tears and the outcome will surprise fans of the series.

“Of course, there are two reunion episodes to follow after the final vows, so it remains to be seen if the two surviving couples are still an item months after filming wrapped.”
