But producers have decided to change things up this year and are replacing it with a new challenge - which they insist is just as scary.

And they are keeping details of it under wraps - so celebs including Wag Coleen Rooney and N-Dubz singer Tulisa will be biting their nails upon landing in Australia.

The plank, bolted to the roof of the Focus building in Surfers Paradise, was introduced to the show's curtain-raiser episodes in 2017.

A show source said: "Bosses are staying tight-lipped on exactly what they've got lined up to replace the plank, but rest assured it will be equally as terrifying and exhilarating.

"It won't be an easy ride into camp for the celebrities this year.

"Bosses are pulling out all the stops to ensure the show has a spectacular launch that viewers won't want to miss."

Last year the plank was turned into a metal pole for the celebs to crawl to the end of.

Whatever the new challenge, radio DJ Melvin Odoom will likely fancy his chances.
