Emilia Pérez - Available from Wednesday

A movie unlike any other you’ll see this year, Emilia Pérez is a crime thriller, comedy, journey of self-discovery and a musical, all rolled into one.

It tells the story of a fearsome Mexican drugs kingpin (Karla Sofía Gascón), who enlists lawyer Rita (Zoe Saldaña) to help fake her own death in order to live as her true self.

An openly trans actor, Gascón’s performance is remarkable but the fact that the film’s four leads (Selena Gomez and Adriana Paz also star) jointly won best actress at Cannes confirms that this is an ensemble success.

Sprint - Available from Wednesday

Hot on the speedy heels of the first part of Sprint, which landed earlier in the year, this second batch of episodes follows an elite group of athletes as they take part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Zoning in on the dizzying highs and heartbreaking lows that come with taking part in the Games, we get to hang out – both on and off the track - with the likes of eventual men’s gold-medal winner Noah Lyles and women’s champ Julien Alfred, along with Gabby Thomas, Kishane Thompson, Shericka Jackson and Fred Kerley.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson - Available from Friday

An intriguing contest or a gimmicky stunt?

Whatever your view, the bout between former champion Mike Tyson and YouTuber-turned fighter Jake Paul has put the boxing world in a spin.

It’s time for the talking to stop, however, as the two contenders take to the ring at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

You’ll have to be up into the early hours of Saturday morning to watch live, as the card starts at 1am UK time, with the main event at about 4am.

It’s back. After a two-year wait, the epic western saga, which charts the trials and tribulations of the Dutton family and their much-prized Montana ranch, returns for the second half of its fifth season.

Expected to be the final batch of episodes, and with main star Kevin Costner absent after a contract dispute, fans would be forgiven for fearing the worst.

But with attention turning to Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), expect the usual mix of action, intrigue and power struggles over who has control of Yellowstone.

APPLE TV+

Bad Sisters - Available from Wednesday

Sharon Horgan rarely puts a foot wrong, and the first series of Bad Sisters, her black comedy murder mystery, was an award-winning treat.

So it’s good news those bad Garvey sisters are back, giving us the chance to catch up with Eva (Sharon), Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene) and Becka (Eve Hewson).

Picking up two years after the death of Grace’s abusive husband, the sisters are trying to move on but when the past resurfaces, not to mention another dead body, the spotlight turns onto them again.

Also starring Fiona Shaw, expect more deliciously dark but funny drama.

Silo - Available from Friday

Who would have thought a drama about a community of people stuck in a mile deep silo would be so gripping?

But the first season of Silo was a huge hit, with fans, and tough engineer-turned-sheriff Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson), desperate to know what the world outside the silo was really like.

Anyone who’s not seen the first series, look away now because season two spoilers follow: having discovered the outside world is indeed desolate and dangerous, but that there are other silos, Juliette continues her mission to uncover the past and let the silo inhabitants know the truth.

Say Nothing - Available from Thursday

The Troubles in Northern Ireland provide the febrile backdrop to this new, nine-part drama, based on real events.

Beginning with the disappearance of single mother of ten Jean McConville, who was abducted from her home in 1972 – and then murdered by the Provisional IRA - the series centres on IRA members Dolours Price (Lola Petticrew), Marian Price (Hazel Doupe) and Brendan Hughes (Anthony Boyle), along with Gerry Adams (Josh Finan).

Revealing the lengths people would go for their beliefs, it’s a powerful, poignant portrait of a divided people.
