It is almost four decades since 19million people tuned in to watch Barry beat Panamanian Eusebio Pedroza at Loftus Road in 1985.

Now millions will watch him every night on ITV when the juggernaut show returns on November 16.

The Sun revealed the full line-up today including the boxing promoter, who previously mocked Amir Khan for failing a grim Bushtucker Trial on the ITV show.

A jungle insider said: "Barry is a knockout signing for the show and complements the line up which, so far, has been dominated by strong women.

"He's a huge star who'll bring back nostalgic memories of the Eighties for many viewers, because that was the era when his career was at its peak and he was a big household name.

"At 63 he'll also be the oldest campmate this year, though the rev Richard Coles isn't far behind him at 62."

It comes after a tough few years for Irish star Barry, who lost his daughter Danika to breast cancer.

He told : "She was such an intrinsic part of the family that every day we ache."

Barry follows in the footsteps of Amir and Tony Bellew, who had huge success on the show.

The Irish star signed up after Ally McCoist pulled out of final talks to enter the jungle.

Ally raised hopes he had signed up when he gave a reason he'd star on the ITV series.

The 62-year-old told his TalkSPORT co-stars he 'could do with losing a stone and a half'.

Scots legend Ally, 62, was also approached by I'm A Celeb bosses back in 2019 and 2022.

Back in 2022, the Rangers legend told how he had

His decision infuriated his wife so much that she temporarily stopped speaking to him.

A source told : "Ally has such a huge fan base thanks to his years of commentating and punditry, plus his long stint on A Question of Sport.

“He’d be great for the jungle - as his wife and kids have been telling him forever - so everyone is really hopeful that this will be the year.”
