Understanding Double Vision
Double vision, or diplopia, is a condition where you see two images of a single object. This can occur in one eye (monocular diplopia) or both eyes (binocular diplopia). Common causes include:
- Eye muscle problems: Conditions like strabismus or muscle palsies can lead to misalignment.
- Nerve issues: Conditions affecting the nerves, such as diabetes or multiple sclerosis.
- Lens problems: Cataracts can also cause blurred or double vision.
If you experience double vision, it’s essential to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Treatments may include corrective lenses, medication, or surgery, depending on the underlying cause.
