FANS of Death in Paradise - a crime drama set in the Caribbean, appear to have found their next obsession.

Potentially promising to fill the void left by the beloved BBC drama that is set to return later this year - Ludwig is the drama on everyone's lips.

Starring the brilliant talents of David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin, Ludwig has already captivated audiences, earning the title of "the best series from the BBC in years."

Now viewers are eagerly clamouring for more episodes.

David - of Peep Show fame - plays the socially awkward crossword puzzle creator John Ludwig Taylor.

Set in Cambridge, John's secluded life is turned upside down when his identical twin brother - who happens to be a policeman - vanishes without a trace.

So John assumes his sibling's identity in a desperate attempt to find him.

The season one finale left viewers begging for more.

And now they have their wish, as the actor hinted at its return in a recent interview with The Mirror.

David said: "That's certainly our hope that it will carry on, so fingers crossed."

Death in Paradise fans, have been following the news closely and some are happy for it to fill the gap for the drama, while it takes a brief break.

Death in Paradise can look forward to a Christmas special with Don Gilet set to take up the mantle of DI Mervin Wilson, and a full return to our screens in 2025.

As they wait on tenterhooks for the new season of their beloved series, fans took to a Facebook page with hopes of something to fill its place.

One fan said: "#Ludwig really is #DeathInParadise but in Cambridge. Perfect afternoon telly. And I can't laud Anna Maxwell Martin enough."

A fellow fan agreed: "It is easy watching like Death in Paradise except it is Cambridge. and if you love Beethoven, it is interesting to hear the music reworked."

Another added: "I have just finished watching Ludwig on BBC. I think it's excellent and did remind me of Death in Paradise a lot," adding that it's "funny, interesting and some really bonkers solutions to cases."

Death In Paradise started in 2011 and has welcomed four detectives so far to the island.

These are all of the actors who have played the lead detective in the hit BBC series so far:

Ben Miller as DI Richard Poole - Actor Ben played the first ever detective from seasons 1 to 2, and then returned as a guest star in the third and tenth series.

Kris Marshall as DI Humphrey Goodman. Next up My Family star took on the role for three years from series 3 to 6.

Ardal O’Hanlon as DI Jack Mooney. Father Ted star Ardal was a fan favourite and was the detective for three seasons from series 6 to 9.

as DI Neville Parker. The actor started in 2019 and is the longest-running star to have the detective role. He was on the show for four seasons from 9 to 13.
