Ewan McGregor speaks out on fate of his hit Star Wars series after fans begged for more

EWAN McGregor has shared new insights on the future of Obi-Wan Kenobi, teasing the possibility of a second season.

The six-part series, which debuted on Disney+ in 2022, saw McGregor reprise his iconic role as the legendary Jedi master.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was set in between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

Though it was originally promoted as a standalone show, McGregor has hinted that there may be more Obi-Wan stories in the pipeline.

During a panel appearance at LA Comic Con, the actor revealed that Disney and Lucasfilm are now 'exploring' new ideas.

The Scottish actor added: "Obviously, between the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and when Alec Guinness is Obi-Wan Kenobi, there’s got to be another few stories in there."

While this isn't an official confirmation of a second season, it’s a marked shift from McGregor's more cautious comments earlier this year.

Back in April, he told LadBible that no formal discussions about the show's renewal had taken place.

At the time he said: ";The truth is I’ve talked about having to cover for doing the Obi-Wan season for years, I had to lie about that, and I’m not lying about this now.

"I don’t know. There’s been no phone call to me from Lucasfilm or Disney saying, 'Let’s do another one.'"

However, he also shared: "I love doing it. I hope we get a chance to do another one, and I’m sure we will.

"I’m pretty sure I’ve got a few years yet before I’m the same age as Alec Guinness was in A New Hope, so there’s time to tell more stories in there."

Despite the lack of concrete plans from Disney+ bosses, McGregor has displayed a clear enthusiasm for continuing the role.

He went on to share more dreams he has for his Jedi character at Comic Con, adding: "I’d quite like to wear that armor, I was speaking to someone earlier, from the Clone Wars. I think that would be something that I would enjoy."
