Shock moment Bake Off star storms out of C4 tent in tears after huge blunder
A GREAT British Bake Off star stormed out of the Channel 4 tent in tears in a shock moment last night.
Fan-favourite contestant John emotionally broke down after his showstopper bake went terribly wrong during Bread Week.
John, who had been wowing judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in previous episodes, struggled with the notoriously difficult challenge.
Bread Week, famous for being Paul’s speciality, has always been a source of tension, and it seemed to overwhelm John this time around.
The trouble began with John’s attempt at bagels.
In a moment that surprised both him and the judges, they didn’t float as they were supposed to when placed in boiling water.

Normally a confident baker, John looked visibly distressed as his bake took a turn for the worse.
Things only got worse when John broke down in tears, left his workstation, and walked out of the tent.
Host Alison Hammond followed John to offer some comfort, trying to cheer him up by recalling her own experience on Strictly Come Dancing, where she thought she was going to be eliminated.
She said: "I remember thinking the same thing,” recounting how her dance partner Aljaž Škorjanec tried to reassure her by saying, "Don’t worry, the other person could fall over."
But John was still emotional as he returned to his baking station.
When the time came for the judges to assess his bagels, John warned them to "not even bother".
Paul, after inspecting the bagels, agreed, saying they were overproved and flat, bluntly saying: “I can’t eat them."
His lemon and ginger buns didn’t fare much better.
Paul noted that they lacked lemon flavour and could have been proofed for longer.
John joked: “Use it as a frisbee," attempting to make light of the situation, but it was clear he was devastated by the results.
Great British Bake off cast 2024
The Great British Bake Off is back for another series of the heartwarming Channel 4 show.
Legendary judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are back to give their expert opinion, while hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond are on hand to lift the bakers spirits.
Here are the amateur bakers all taking part in 2024.
- Andy, 44, car mechanic.
- Christiaan, 33, menswear designer.
- Dylan, 20, retail assistant.
- Georgie, 34, paediatric nurse.
- Gill, 53, senior category manager.
- Hazel, 71, former nail technician.
- Illiyin, 31, birth trauma specialist midwife.
- Jeff, 67, former university lecturer.
- John, 37, NHS directorate support manager.
- Mike, 29, farmer.
- Nelly, 44, palliative care assistant.
- Sumayah, 19, student.
Despite a visually impressive centrepiece, the technical faults were too glaring to overlook.
Prue added that while John's centrepiece looked great, it was a shame about the bagels, which ultimately overshadowed his other efforts.
As the episode continued, John reflected on his performance, saying, “It went as expected. I was happy with how it looked. I knew today wasn’t going to be my day.”
In the end, John’s missteps cost him his place in the competition.

Speaking to his fellow bakers after being sent home, he said: “It's ok, I've just had a bad week. Because everybody's so talented, you drop the ball then it's your time to go.
"To the first Star Baker of this season, I had a really good week last week as well, but you know what - the tears are tears of pride."
