THE GREAT British Bake Off returns to screens tonight, but one contestant is set for a difficult time in the tent as they throw away their biscuits after they come out of the oven.
A short preview of tonight’s episode (Tuesday 1 October) teases tension in the Bake Off tent for 71-year-old Hazel.
The former nail technician-turned-baker has plenty of experience in the kitchen and previously told how she loves to innovate when it comes to her bakes. Her birthday cakes often feature mechanical elements, such as the carousel cake with 500 edible diamonds that she gave to her granddaughter, which took two weeks to make.
However, she is clearly feeling the heat in the tent tonight as biscuit week gets underway.
It seems the pressure of Week 2 all gets a bit too much for Hazel, who throws her biscuits in the bin.
“It’s week two, it’s Biscuit Week and things are already heating up in the tent this year,” the synopsis for tonight’s episode teases.

“For the baker’s second signature challenge, we see them make their perfect Viennese sandwiches.
“While some are doubtful about the detail of their bakes, we see others cutting it close in time and even witness Hazel throw away her first batch of biscuits. Will our bakers deliver the perfect sandwich on time?”
In a teaser clip for tonight’s episode, Hazel appears to be horrified as she looks at her first batch of biscuits.
“I’m just gonna throw that lot,” she says as she bundles them up and chucks them straight in the bin before anyone can get a good look at them.

“I’m just throwing them. I’m not even gonna try,” she adds.
Hazel is then forced to start her biscuit dough again, completely from scratch.
But all hope is not lost for Hazel in this competition if she manages to pull her bakes out of the oven in time.
Sumayah is also struggling this week as she finds herself baking right down to the wire. Meanwhile, fellow contestant Nelly is unsure about her finished product as she admits her biscuits have “lost their shape.”
It seems Gill may be the frontrunner in tonight’s biscuit bake off as she looks chuffed to bits with her sweet treats.
“Yay, they’re just golden around the edges! I will take that as a win,” she exclaims as she takes them out of the oven.
