The star was savaged by the experts as they criticised her for the poor routine and her many mishaps.

Their comments soon translated into scores as Toyah managed to bag an impeccably low score of just 12.

Both Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas scored Toyah a 2 out of 10 while Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke opted to pass a score of 4.

It left them at the bottom of the leaderboard by some margin as Shirley and Craig unusually agreed when it came to their critique of the singer's routine.

One of their main criticisms was that Toyah found herself being dragged across the dancefloor by Neil.

Craig said to the singer: "You were leaping around like a Springbok, darling. This is like a prowling dance.

"You should be in your knees, you know, and I felt like you were being lifted. You went up on the wrong foot a couple of times as well. We lost timing. We lost connection."

Shirley went on to add: "I actually think it does matter, and I think what Craig said is absolutely right, so please hold her hand while I deliver this message.

"You have the most competitive spirit. I want to say that first of all, and I think that you came out here and you wanted to give it your all, and you did your best.

"Unfortunately, less is more, and poor Neil looked like he was going for a walk in park with you. I've danced with Neil, and he's beautiful to dance with, so we need listening skill.

"We need to calm it a little bit."

Fans were soon left furious as they slammed the judges for their scoring and insisted some of the blame should be placed at Neil's feet.

Hitting out online, one said: "If Neil Jones carried Toyah around so her feet didn’t reach the floor, the criticism should be his. #Strictly."

Another echoed: "I did expect Toyah to be better than she was actually. Neil didn't help by dragging her around either. It reminded me of the year Anton dragged Anne Widdecombe along the floor!".

Toyah failed to impress

Before someone else added: "And this is why Neil rarely gets a partner…!"

But despite many raging at Neil and the lack of accountability for his role to play, one fan was quick to admit they did agree with the critical comments and scores of the judges.

They said: "Twelve is a brutally low score for Toyah, but for the first time in a very long time, the judges' scores actually matched what they actually said ..."
