EMMERDALE fans have been left in a rage over one character being turned into a 'small talk bit player'.
Some soap fanatics took to social media to slam bosses for their 'offensive' writing.
In recent scenes on the ITV soap, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) has been helping her sister.
Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) has seen his marriage to Tracey Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) crumble.
He was offered a new job away from the village and Tracey is having to deal with the prospect of co-parenting.
Vanessa was seen supporting her sister, before another scene saw her with Nate and Mackenzie Boyd.

However, she didn't have much to do in the scene and it left some Emmerdale fans furious.
The think that Vanessa has been somewhat relegated in the soap and believe she should be front and centre in any storyline, not just a person for other characters to chat to.
In fact, they took to social media to accuse bosses of seemingly making her a plot device, used just for the sake of other characters.
Taking to X - formerly known as Twitter - one soap fan raged: "GET CHARITY BACK WITH VANESSA!!!"

Another angrily posted: "How is it possible all they have for THEE Vanessa Woodfield to do is be a small talk bit player in a NATE AND MACK scene in Moira’s kitchen?
Adding: "F****** offensive."
Meanwhile, actor Jurell Carter is preparing for his exit as Nate, with viewers starting to get an idea of what his departure could be.
Back in June, The Sun revealed that Jurell Carter had quit the ITV soap after five years.
Now the promised major plot twist has finally come after he received a mysterious phone call.
He has been offered a new opportunity to relocate to Scotland for a new job.
