Simon Cowell's former colleagues and previous protégé are launching a new hunt for musical talent, as groups will form without first meeting face to face.
Netflix's new series Building The Band will see talents that have previously worked with Cowell join forces as One Direction star Liam Payne, Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland and Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger put together a new music group.
The three stars will act as coaches for the next generation of music talent, and help to put them through their paces with the promise of a music career as a prize.
The Netflix show will be hosted by Backstreet Boys star and singer AJ McLean, which has been likened to Love Is Blind mixed with The X Factor.
The series sees bands form based on their personality and character over looks, before later performing for the coaches and guest judges who have yet to be announced.
The search is hoping to replicate the success of former music searches like Popstars, Pop Idol and The X Factor to see if they can find the next big thing in music.
More on Simon Cowell
Executive producer for the series Cat Lawson explained the thinking behind the show as she said: "Building the Band is a brave and bold undertaking for all involved as we hand over power to the singers themselves to form their own band based on chemistry first.
"With looks out of the equation, can they create a deeper connection with their bandmates?’
She continued: "With limited bands, there are difficult decisions and heart-stopping moments along the way, but ultimately the outcome is truly amazing, with bands forming who in my opinion are worthy of the very biggest stage!"
The series comes as Netflix has another music programme in the works as it will launch The Midas Touch, focusing on Simon Cowell's hunt for the next One Direction as he looks to replicate the boy band's success.
