OVER the years Dr Punam Krishan has become a familiar face on TV, giving out medical advice to viewers.
However, she is now swapping the doctors surgery for the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor.
Who is Dr Punam Krishan?
Dr Punam Krishan is the fifth celebrity contestant confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The media media and broadcaster is originally from Scotland, and is passionate about using her platform to teach people more about their physical and mental health.
She is a resident GP on BBC Morning Live and BBC Radio Scotland.

When is Dr Punam Krishan appearing on Strictly Come Dancing?
On August 6, 2024, it was announced Punam will be part of the Strictly 2024 line-up
The medical professional and broadcaster joins the likes of JLS star JB Gill and comedian Chris McCausland who will take to the dancefloor later this year.
Speaking about joining the show, Punam said: "This still doesn’t feel real, I am overjoyed to be a contestant on this year’s show.
"I have watched Strictly every year with my family and it feels extra special that it’s the 20th year, I can’t believe I will be the one getting Strictly-fied now.

What does Dr Punam Krishan do for a living?
Dr Punam is a media medic and broadcaster.
Alongside being a practising NHS GP, Punam regularly reports on health news as a broadcaster on TV, radio and national newspapers and has also written her own children’s book.
She was shortlisted for the British Journalism Awards 2021 under the comment journalism category for the i paper.
The amateur dancer is also the author of How to Be a Doctor and Other Life-Saving Jobs.
Punam is also a medical educator, teaching at the University of Glasgow.
She is currently the director of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
