Before Aftersun kicked off live from outside the Majorca mansion, a pre-recorded VT aired.

It showed Sam Thompson, Indiyah Polack, Chris Taylor, Jordan Stephens and Amy Hart in the villa.

They all engaged with the remaining couples as they reenacted classic scenes from Love Island before host Maya Jama walked in.

She told them: "Hi guys, what are you all doing?!

"We need to get ready for Aftersun, we've got a show to do - come on!"

However, viewers watching at home were less than impressed at the playful clip - comparing the sketch to a school project.

One said: "Nah get this GCSE acting off my screen."

A second wrote: "What type of BTEC drama performance was that."

"Why do aftersun make them do these stupid re-enactments that have nothing to do with the show. It’s so fucking cringe. Just start the show ffs. I want the tea," fumed a third.

'Where's the budget gone' say Love Island fans as they noticed fan-favourite segment has been 'dropped' - the final dates seem to have been axed

While a fourth commented: "What kind of intro was that? I have secondhand embarrassment."

The Love Island final airs Monday from 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
