The returning islanders include Uma Jammeh, Wil Anderson, Harriett Blackmore, Ronnie Vint, Patsy Field, Munveer Jabbal, Omar Nyame, Samantha Kenny, Jess White, Grace Jackson and Reuben Collins.

Hunky Sam Taylor, who was booted out first, will also return and leads the pack walking into the house.

In scenes that will play out in Sunday night’s episode, the returnees come back to grill the remaining cast on unfinished business.

It’s a twist inspired by the All Star jury, as seen on January’s legends edition.

A source said: “A number of the dumped islanders have scores to settle - when they leave they can watch footage of what really went on and they’ll relish the chance to say their piece.

“Islanders like Samantha are desperate to speak up about her treatment from Joey, for example.

“It’s also a great chance for viewers to see their favourites like Uma and Grace again.”

The shock curveball doesn't usually take place on the regular series of Love Island, but bosses were thrilled with how it played out on All Stars.

The insider continues: "It's sure to keep viewers hooked right up until the final.

The show often struggles to keep the drama in the final episodes as the couples are so settled before the end, and there are less of them in the villa.

"Bringing back former islanders with grudges to bear ensures fireworks in the closing episodes."

Just two episodes remain of the current series, with the winners set to be named on Monday night.

Maya Jama will return to the villa for the live final spectacular.

Currently, Mimii and Josh, Nicole and Ciaran, Joey and Jessy, Matilda and Sean and Ayo and Jess remain in the mix to win.

But after the remaining couples have to each vote for which pair they thought were least compatible tonight, all the duos apart from Ciaran and Nicole are at risk of being dumped from the villa.

The results of who gets the chop will air on Sunday night.

Love Island: The Live Final airs on Monday 29th July at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
