Colson, 25, told fans he had ditched the baseball caps as he posed for smiley Instagram photos.

Holding a 'Mr Hair Transplant' mug and flashing a thumbs up he said: "Slightly different to my usual hairstyle...

"On Monday I had a hair transplant. A transplant has been on my agenda since I first noticed my hair loss at the age 22!" he continued.

"Losing my hair at such a young age has been a tough thing for me to come to terms with, I instantly feel SOOO much better and more confident that I’ve taken a step to getting back my luscious strawberry blonde locks," he added.

He joked that there would be "no more comb overs and baseball caps" and said he was looking forward to a "future with a cracking head of hair".

Fans flocked to the comment section to compliment his new look.

"Yes, Colson! Please talk about it on the podcast when you guys are back. The whole procedure fascinates me!" said one.

"Yayy! We love your strawberry locks. So so proud of you!" echoed another.

"Well done you. I admire people so much who feel comfortable to be able to talk about things like this. I know you will make a difference x" wrote a third.

"Well done to you for having the courage to firstly get the hair transplant and secondly for sharing your news with us," chimed a fourth.

This comes as fellow Corrie star Alan Halsall, 41, who plays Tyrone Dobbs on the soap, also had hair transplants in 2016 and 2019.

It was Alan who recommended his surgeon, Dr Farjo to the Craig Tinker actor.

"It was actually a recommendation from my fellow actor, Alan Halsall, that pointed me in the direction of Dr Farjo," Colson told MailOnline.

"He had amazing results with them and couldn’t fault the care he received, so I booked in for a consultation with Dr Farjo and have found the whole experience to be first class."

The star recently opened up about his struggles after leaving the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this year.

He returned to the gym after the final, but admitted he found it tough after having three weeks off.

"My legs aren't impressed with me for having three weeks off...", said Colson after doing a 6km run.

The next day he headed back to the gym and posed for a mirror selfie close to the weights.
