EASTENDERS fans are convinced they’ve worked out who Reiss really is, as his cash scam is uncovered.

Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) arrived in Walford back in December 2022, just in time for his great aunt Dot’s (June Brown) funeral before quickly striking up a relationship with Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy).

His arrival left soap fans wary though and his actions seem to be proving them right, leading many viewers to believe Reiss is not who he says he is.

Struggling with major money woes, Reiss has stolen from his comatose wife Debbie’s savings account.

Sonia’s sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) recently uncovered this, so fans believe it’s only a matter of time before Reiss’ true identity is outed.

A popular theory is that Sonia’s partner is not Reiss Colwell at all. Instead, he’s stolen the identity of the real Reiss Colwell and arrived just in time for Dot’s funeral in the hope of inheriting her house for himself.

Voicing their theory on social media, one fan said: “Would be interesting if when Debbie woke up she says yes she is married to Reiss, but it’s not the Reiss we know he has stolen his identity.”

While another fan agreed: “I honestly would not be shocked by this.”

A third viewer theorised that Reiss’ storyline might take a dark turn. “My mum made a comment to me when he first appeared for Dot’s funeral that she thought he was a con man and how, for some reason, he reminded her of John Christie, the serial killer,” they wrote.

If this proves to be the case, the truth about Reiss could come out as he plans to scam another Walford resident.

Reiss has already attempted to con Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), but has now set his sights on Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).

In upcoming episodes, Reiss lies to her about a fake outstanding VAT receipt that needs to be paid.

'So over it!' rage EastEnders fans as they blast 'pointless' Sonia and Reiss storyline - begging bosses 'ditch it!'

While Sharon seems set to pay, her ex-husband Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) arrives at the Boxing Den just in time to query the mystery bill. Might he save Sharon from the scammer?

Meanwhile, Reiss lies directly to a hopeful Sonia, as he makes her think he has somehow found a solution to their problems.

But as their debts continue to rise, she realises their worries will be an ongoing issue in their relationship.

This leads Sonia to consider putting Dot’s house on the market — will Reiss finally get what he’s been after all this time?

Sonia tries to move forward with her plan to sell number 25, but confides in Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), his niece Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and her ex-husband Martin (James Bye).

She then has an epiphany about the importance of investing in her future with Reiss so decides to cook her partner a home cooked meal in order to spend quality time with him.

However, they are be interrupted by Lauren and Martin who reveal their true feelings about Reiss.

Instead of listening to their concerns, Sonia defends her partner having been completely fooled by him and kicks her family out of the house.
